SECTION I - INTRODUCTION
ABOUT THE SOFTWARE
This software was originally designed as a tool to help woman with
unstable menstrual cycles to get pregnant. As a result of this study,
it became quite clear that PREGNANT was a very useful Pregnancy Plan
ning Tool.
If you are willing to devote about a minute of your time per day you
can get off the pill and still have complete control over your ability
to GET or NOT GET pregnant. See Getting off the Pill in Section III.
PROFESSIONAL and SINGLE USER VERSIONS
There are two Versions of PREGNANT. The Professional Version is for
Doctors or Family planners who will be keeping track of many people at
the same time. The Single User Version is for use in the home by no
more than two people.
SINGLE STROKE vs MULTI STROKE ENTRY
When a Single Stroke entry is requested, a single prompt character will
follow the prompt message. See the "What's your Pleasure!" prompt
message on the MAIN MENU. When a Multi Stroke entry is requested, a
string of asterisks will be displayed. The number of asterisks
indicates the total number of characters allowed. An example of this is
found in the Create a New File option.

A Registered Version of this software can be obtained by sending $25
for the Single User Version and $40 for the Professional User Version
to: John Ellis, 250 Kennedy Ave, Suite #3, Chula Vista, CA 92011

Option 4 displays a list of Data Files that are being maintained by
the program.
Option 5 prints a report for any person in the system.
Option 6 provides a complete Help Menu
SET-UP PROCEDURE
From the Main Menu, you can enter another menu called the Set_Up Menu
by hitting the ^C(Ctrl) and S keys at the same time. The Set-Up Menu
allows you to:
1. Change the Drive Designation where Data files are kept.
2. Create a New Index File.
3. Add/Change/Delete a Password.
.. Hands-On Procedure Margins L----------------------------------------------------------R
Set-Up Procedure!
-----------------
Hit the `Ctrl' and `S' keys at the same time.
The Set-Up Menu will appear and the questions will be:
Enter the Data Drive Designation! Hit the `A' key!
Do you want to Create a new Index File! Hit the `N' key!
Do you want to Add/Create/Delete the Password! Hit Return!
This procedure will set the program up for use on a single
disk operated from Drive A with the Data Files kept on Drive
A:. If you wish your set up to be different, see the
appropriate paragraph below.
Floppy Disk System
PREGNANT is easily operated from a single disk. There are NO changes
required. The above Hands-On Set-Up Procedure is all that is needed!
Hard Disk System
If PREGNANT is to be operated from a Hard Disk, you must change the
Data Drive Designation using the SetUp Menu. If your Hard Disk is
designated as drive C then enter `C' when you are asked to "Enter the
Data Drive Designation!".
Password
If you want to use a password, you can do so by using the SetUp Menu.
With a Password installed, no information will appear on the screen
until the proper password is entered. A Password is limited to 6 Alpha
Numeric characters, if you use less than 6 characters then you must
terminate the Password with a carriage return <RET>.
Add Password Procedure
----------------------
Goto the Main Menu.
Hit the `Ctrl' and `S' keys
When you are asked to "Enter the Data Drive Designation!",
Enter what ever the Current Drive is! If the Current Drive
is C, then enter `C'.
Enter `N' when asked to Create a new Index File!
When you are asked "Do you want to Add/Change/Delete a
Password!", Enter `A'.
You will then be asked to "Enter your Password?". Enter `QWERTY'
Now you can exit the program and re-enter it. Before
anything appears on the screen, you will be asked to "Enter
your Password".
Delete Password Procedure
-------------------------
Follow the Add Password Procedure until you get to "Do you
want to Add/Change/Delete a Password!" Enter `D'
Security
For an additional level of security, you can change the name of the
program from PREGNANT to something else. If you want the new name to be
PPT for Pregnancy Planning Tool, here is how to do it.
Re-Name PREGNANT to PPT Procedure
---------------------------------
Exit to the DOS prompt which is an A> in the left most column.
Enter `REN PREGNANT.EXE PPT.EXE'
That's all there is to it! When you enter PPT, the PREGNANT
program will appear.
Now if someone runs a directory on this disk, only PPT will appear as
one of the names in the directory. And if they are curious about PPT,
they will only get a request for a Password.
SECTION III - OPERATION
Creating a Data File
Before you can enter data to be analyzed, you must create a data file.
From the Main Menu, Enter option 3 by hitting the `3' key. No <RET> or
Enter key is required. You will be asked several questions. Please
answer them as completely as possible. When all of the questions have
been answered, a data file will be created and placed on the drive that
you have designated using the setup menu. If you wish to abort this
Question and Answer session, hit the <RET> key in response to the first
or second questions.
Entering Data
When you Enter Option `1' from the Main Menu, you will be asked for the
Last Name? and then you will be asked if you want to Add/Change or
Delete Data? Your answer should be to ADD. At this point the program
assumes that you will be adding data in descending chronological order
from the last entry. If you have gaps in your data then add the data
that will fill in these gaps to the end of the file and then sort the
file. See "Sorting the Data File".
The ideal situation here is to have NO gaps in the Data File otherwise
the Analysis Option may not function properly. You should enter data
every day at approximately the same time each day. Here is the
suggested procedure.
Data Entry Procedure
--------------------
Place the Thermometer in you mouth!
Turn On the Computer!
Enter PREGNANT or whatever name you have changed it too!
When the Main Menu appears, Hit `1' then Enter your Name,
then RETURN
Next Enter `A' for Add
When the Date is requested, Hit Return for Today's Date!
When the Time is requested, Hit Return for the current time!
When the Temperature is requested, read the thermometer and
Enter the Temperature!
If this is NOT the first day of your Menstrual Cycle, answer
NO to the next question.
Your Done!! except for a few Return's to exit the program.
Analyzing Data
Option 2 from the Main Menu, Analysis the data in the Data File. See
Error Messages in SECTION V - APPENDIX. Inorder to Analysis data, you
need two full months of menstrual data along with three menstrual cycle
beginning dates. That is about 60 days of data.
Cycle Begins-Monthly Data-Cycle Begins-Monthly Data-Cycle Begins
When the Analysis Option begins, you will get one of several error
messages if there is any problem with enough data. When the actual
analysis begins, a "Do NOT Interrupt" message will be displayed. When
the analysis is complete, the following data will be displayed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1st Menstrual Cycle began 01Jan88 with Ovulation from 13Jan88 to 17Jan88
